Résumé :	The research of my thesis stresses the conflicting demands of zooplankton species inhabiting high-mountain lakes and attempts to clarify mechanisms by which zooplankton species maintain long-term persistence and coexistence with potential competitors and predators. In particular, I focus on the behaviour and life histories of the cladoceran genus Daphnia, an ecological important grazer in lakes.
