[CBNPMP-Thématique] Enjeux de conservation des lacs d'altitudeRésumé : Eutrophication is one of the major threats to the quality of water in high mountain lakes. The inflow of elements having biological origin may significantly aggravate the ecological status of those ecosystems. For this reason, the aim of this study was to map and assess the impact of anthropogenic pressure on alpine lakes in the valley of Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich (known in English as the Valley of Five Polish Lakes) in the Tatra National Park in Poland. The effects of tourism and easy access to alpine lakes on changes in their ecological status were determined. Tourist trails were evaluated based on the difficulty of access to the water surface of analyzed alpine lakes, with a method developed for assessing anthropogenic pressure on aquatic ecosystems. The method, deployed for the first time in 2019, was modified and adapted to the local environmental conditions in the research area. The results of this study indicate that tourism pressure contributes to the growth of submerged vegetation in alpine lakes. The presence of aquatic plants (including vascular plants) shows ecosystem response to water enrichment with biogenic substances. The present findings were used to formulate practical recommendations and propose modifications to the evaluated hiking trails. The research method developed in the study can support analysis and control of tourist traffic, thus reducing anthropogenic pressure on alpine lakes in national parks located in mountain areas. Among the properties of water, Na+, pH, total Fe, Ca2+, NO3−, SO42−, hardness and COD-KMnO4 were the most important in differentiating the habitats of the phytocoenoses studied. Considerable physicochemical differences were found between the waters of the phytocoenoses of Ranunculus circinatus (hard waters rich in Na+), Nuphar pumila (soft waters with high levels of total Fe), Elodea canadensis, Ceratophyllum demersum (alkaline waters) and Stratiotes aloides (waters containing high concentrations of Ca2+ and SO42−). The substrate properties that best differentiated the habitats compared were PO43−, hydration, organic matter content, total N, dissolved SiO2, Ca2+, Na+ and pH. Patches of R. circinatus inhabited substrates containing the highest levels of PO43−. Those of S. aloides were associated with substrates poor in PO43−. Patches of C. demersum were confined to substrates rich in total N. Phytocoenoses of R. circinatus were associated with large lakes, whereas those of N. pumila were restricted mostly to smaller lakes. The deepest parts of lakes were inhabited by Potamogeton lucens. Phytocoenoses of S. aloides occurred mostly in shallow waters, on thick sediments. The investigated phytocoenoses also represent different stages of succession. The phytocoenoses of Potamogeton perfoliatus, R. circinatus, Myriophyllum spicatum and Polygonum amphibium, which develop on mineral substrates, initiate the process of succession, whereas those of Myriophyllum verticillatum, Nymphaea candida, Nymphaea alba, N. pumila and S. aloides, which inhabit highly hydrated organic substrates, are characteristic of the late stages of succession. [CBNPMP-Géographique] PologneMots-clés : Galium odoratum (L.) Scop. Résumé : Range of environmental, genetic, and chemical variability of sweet woodruff growing wild in Poland was investigated. Effect of selected environmental and agrotechnical factors (plant shading, soil pH, term of planting, and method of herb harvesting) on plant development and accumulation of biologically active compounds was evaluated. Basic parameters of in vitro plant propagation were determined. Water and alcoholic herb extracts were compared in respect of the content of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity. There were no distinct differences between the investigated populations in the content of nuclear DNA. Plants from Warmia and Mazury area were richer in coumarins than those from Lublin province. Herb of plants growing under shading (70% sunlight reduction) were characterised by highest content of coumarins, phenolic acids, and iridoids. Coumarin content was the highest in herb collected at the plant blooming stage. In the in vitro studies the best medium for shoot regeneration was MS medium without any growth regulators. Alcoholic extracts from herb were characterised by higher content of coumarins than water extracts.
