Morphological and molecular studies clearly separate it from related species of Albomagister. The assignment to Albomagister is presently suitable, however, morphological characters and a complementary morphological analysis of A. alesandrii, the only representative of the genus in Europe, contradicted the recent circumscription of this genus.
