Résumé : Main succession changes are traced down in the Nardus stricta communities from the Central Balkan Range (Bulgaria). The demutational phase covers a period of 2–3 decades. Vegetation dynamics processes are analysed in parallel, according to the method of Braun-Blanquet and the Dominant approach. Classification of the communities according to the two approaches is offered. The Nardetum strictaе and Bruckenthalio-Juniperetum sibiricae associations represent two opposite points in the succession process. The spatial and the syntaxonomic correlation between the vegetation units is analysed, regarding the two phytocoenological schools.
