Article (2006)URL Assessing and controlling the spread and the effects of common ragweed in Europe / James Bullock (2012)
Titre : Assessing and controlling the spread and the effects of common ragweed in Europe Type de document : Électronique Auteurs : James Bullock ; Commission européenne Direction générale de l'environnement Editeur : European Commission Directorate-General Environment Année de publication : 2012 Importance : 456 p. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : [CBNPMP-Thèmes] Plantes subspontanées, naturalisées, envahissantes Mots-clés : Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. Résumé : Common ragweed Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. (Asteraceae) is an annual species, native to North America, which has been introduced and subsequently naturalized in many countries including a large part of Europe. It’s highly allergenic pollen causes hayfever, asthma and other reactions; and it is a significant crop weed. These harmful effects, combined with its potential for rapid spread has caused ragweed to be considered among the most dangerous invasive non‐native species in Europe1. The European Commission2 has identified the species as a significant problem to many Member States of the EU and a very serious threat to others; and that, whilst there is good information available on the health effects of A. artemisiifolia, there is a gap in the knowledge on the direct and indirect effects on the wider environment and economic sectors. In order to advance knowledge about ragweed in Europe and to aid planning for future actions, the European Commission let this project titled: “Assessing and controlling the spread and the effects of common ragweed in Europe (ENV.B.2/ETU/2010/0037)”. This project has the aim to synthesise and systematically review information, highlight knowledge gaps and utilise modern modelling methods to allow: an understanding of the current extent of ragweed infestation in Europe; the development of measures to control ragweed spread and introduction (now and in future climates); economic, social and environmental quantification of direct and indirect harmful effects in all sectors; and the dissemination of accurate and up‐to‐date scientifically‐based evidence to stakeholders. est un extrait de 13th Australian weeds conference. Weeds: threats now and forever ? / Australian Weeds Conference (13; 2002; Perth, W.A.) (2002)
Titre : Assessment of alien invasive aquatic weeds in the UK Type de document : Extrait d'ouvrage Auteurs : Sarah Clarke ; Jonathan Newman Année de publication : 2002 Importance : 142-145 Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : [CBNPMP-Thèmes] Plantes subspontanées, naturalisées, envahissantes Mots-clés : Hydrocotyle ranunculoides L.f., 1782 Myriophyllum aquaticum (Vell.) Verdc., 1973 Myriophyllum brasiliense Camb. Résumé : All the aquatic weeds present in the UK are derived from horticultural trade sources within the UK and Europe. Changes in the supply of plants to the general public in the last 50 years have altered the way in which natural ecosystems are threatened by new species, and the rate at which invasion takes place. Currently there are no means of assessing the potential of species new to the UK to become weeds. This paper examines ecological and cultural influences on the reasons for success of alien invasive weed species in the UK, presents data on attempts to determine weedy traits and provides information on development of control techniques in the light of current European Union legislation on pesticide use in water.
